Common SEPA/UK Faster Payment Failure Scenarios
In some cases, a payment may display a status of expired, even though the payer claims they completed the transfer. This typically occurs when we are unable to match the incoming payment to the original session. Below are common scenarios that can result in an expired status for SEPA or UK Faster Payments:
| Failure Reason | Example Scenario |
|---|---|
| No Payment Received | The user never initiated the payment. |
| Payment Arrived Late | The user sent the payment, but it arrived after the session expired. |
| Incorrect Amount | The user sent a payment, but the amount was incorrect. |
| Payment From Unverified Account | The user sent the payment from a known account, but not the one they selected when initiating the transfer. |
| Unknown Account | The payment came from an account the user has never entered into our system, so we are unable to match it to a session. |
If the failure was due to an unknown account, you can view and investigate these cases in the Unknown IBAN Payments section of the dashboard.
